Darius is a celebrated recording and concert artist who’s approach to the American Songbook- ranging from Billy Strayhorn to Stevie Wonder- has carved a unique place in jazz and popular music circles. Comfortable performing in intimate arenas to concert stages around the world audiences have embraced his enthusiastic warm musical personality and love for the art of song. His performances as the singing voice of “Shy Baldwin” on Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel expanded his audiences and eventually Darius parlayed the music from that show into his concerts, giving listeners a great insight not only into the legendary singers who inspired the character (Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Sam Cooke, Sarah Vaughan and many more) but also celebrating Darius’s personal musical legacy.

Notable concerts include The Lincoln Center American Songbook, Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert at Disney Concert Hall, and the 92nd St Y’s Lyrics and Lyricists series, for which he created and performed musical evenings celebrating Sam Cooke and Stevie Wonder. His Carnegie Hall performances include the Cincinnati Pops and Baltimore Pops, conducted by Erich Kunzel and Marin Alsop respectively. Other notable performances include London’s Royal Festival Hall, The Kennedy Center, The National Symphony, and The Boston Pops. He has performed, recorded, and/or toured with such diverse artists as Elvis Costello, Deborah Harry, Oleta Adams, Marvin Hamlisch, Roberta Flack, Rhiannon Giddens and Vanessa Williams.
Holiday Concerts
Another staple of Darius concert performances is his Holiday concerts that celebrate his love of this music from this time of year. From the traditional to the classic standards to new takes on holiday favorites and beyond this has become a highly anticipated event which Darius looks forward to sharing with audiences year after year. Out of this has come Darius’s holiday recording “Let Me Carry You This Christmas”, a musically sumptuous offering of holiday songs- including “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, “Silent Night”, the Louis Armstrong classic “Cool Yule”, “We Need A Little Christmas”, the moving title track “Let Me Carry You This Christmas” personally written for Darius and many more- through the lens of Jazz, R & B, Traditional and Broadway.

Featuring a lineup of musical luminaries including phenom jazz pianist Matthew Whitaker and virtuoso jazz guitarist Armand Hirsch with arrangements from Tedd Firth, Charlie Rosen and David Chase, this is, as Darius puts it “ part exploration of cherished Christmas memories, an honoring of my family musical legacy, a celebration of the many musical artists who inspired me, and a heartfelt deeply personal contribution to the timeless canon of beloved holiday music”.
