Career Highlights

"My career has had many stages, from concerts to theater, from Broadway to International Tours. And while it is impossible to decide what I enjoyed the most, there are certain performances that have lingered on, vivid in my memory. Some are well know thanks to TV and CD's. Others are my personal favorites for a variety of reasons. Like the challenge of covering the principals in Rent, which lead to singing both sides of the duet 'I'll Cover You' in the same week (I played Tom Collins for three performances, than switched to his romantic interest, Angel, for the next five). But my favorite times are when you create a character, bringing their voice forward for the first time, like when Stephen Schwartz let me interpret Cain in 'Children of Eden.' I still learn new things each time I sing 'Lost in the Wilderness.' "- Darius

"The stage is great for seeing what can happen when a good singer or choreographer or director gets inspired by a song and takes it to a level I hadn't imagined. For instance, on the new 'Children of Eden' album, Darius de Haas as Cain is singing notes in "Lost in the Wilderness" I had never thought of, but his great voice and intensity make the song doubly exciting."

Instrumentation:

"Children of Eden"
"Mr. de Haas gives one of the best musical performances this season. Assured and impassioned, his running man is a figure of mystery and pathos, his failure to thrive the stuff of modern tragedy."
