"I have been blessed to work on many stages, from Broadway to Carnegie Hall, from the Kennedy Center to London's Royal Festival Hall, and from PBS to NBC. .And while my first stages were those of the theater, opportunities there created the chance to do TV, film, recordings, and concerts.

To be honest, nothing gives me greater joy than to sing, and so it has been a real feeling of accomplishment that the most recent stage of my career has focused on concerts and recordings. My solo concerts can focus on a genre, like jazz or theater selections, or the evening may highlight one of my favorite composers, like Stevie Wonder or Billy Strayhorn. My original Strayhorn concert at NY's Lincoln Center culminated in my first solo CD release, Darius de Haas: day dream -Variations on Strayhorn.

My favorite stage? Well, actually it is the creative process itself. From the early stages of a new concept, through the collaboration of rehearsals that eventually leads me to the performance stage. Whether the final destination is the theater or a concert hall, a recording studio or a movie set, its the creative process that I learn from, grow from, and enjoy the most."
